The sanity effects certainly stand out amid the game's generally impressive and polished presentation: As the game's characters begin to lose their grip on reality, their fear and dread begin to manifest themselves in any number of bizarre, often scary, often absurdly funny hallucinations that will keep you guessing as to whether what you're seeing is truly as it seems. Eternal Darkness' tasteful blend of realism and the supernatural works extremely well, lending the game a subtle yet carefully constructed sense of style that's by all means artful.
