Tactics Ogre: The Knight of Lodis carries on the great traditions of a wonderful series of strategic role-playing games with its combination of rich storytelling, intriguing tactical combat, depth of play, and replay value. It tells the story of Alphonse, a young knight who is sent with a small entourage to investigate an untamed land. There they find much more than they bargained for, and much more than you might expect. From the captivating opening sequence to the unique battle system that really forces you to deploy your forces wisely and plan ahead, Tactics Ogre is a thoroughly engaging game. It lasts a long while, too, and has plenty of replay value and a save-anywhere system, making it perfect either to play in short spurts or in marathon sessions. Tactics Ogre is also easy to like because it defies most conventions of the role-playing genre, making combat the focus of the game rather than an obstacle that just gets in the way of the plot.
