Maxis and Electronic Arts have announced that the Xbox and GameCube versions of The Sims have gone gold. The Sims for the Xbox and GameCube features full 3D environments as well as support for two players, so two separate player-controlled sims can cooperate with each other or compete with each other to earn money or popularity, all in the same environment. In addition, the game features level-based gameplay in which players will have to complete a variety of objectives while taking their sims out into the world and open-ended gameplay where players can set their own goals for their sims.

The Xbox and GameCube versions of The Sims are scheduled for release on March 24.
