Acclaim to drop GameCube support?
After its current GameCube projects are finished, the company may cease GameCube development.
According to a recent MCV interview conducted with Acclaim CEO Rod Cousens, Acclaim will drop development support for the GameCube after the current set of projects is finished. Cousens essentially said the company sees no reason to continue supporting the platform when its games aren't selling well enough on it. The current projects in production for the GameCube include Legends of Wrestling III, Urban Freestyle Soccer, and XGRA. However, when contacted for comment, an Acclaim representative said that the statement was taken out of context. The representative did confirm that the company currently doesn't have any plans to launch new brands on the platform, and any future GameCube products will be decided upon on an individual basis.
We'll post more details as they become available.
