Retailers pass on BMX XXX
Three major US retailers are declining to stock Acclaim's mature-themed BMX XXX.
Wal-Mart, Toys "R" Us, and KB Toys have refused to stock Acclaim's upcoming BMX XXX, according to a Reuters report. The game is reported to have little shortage of nudity, sexual suggestiveness, and explicit language. Acclaim has heavily promoted the game's "mature" content as its central appeal, but since the game's a spin-off of the Dave Mirra's BMX series, the core gameplay will focus on freestyle BMX tricks.
BMX XXX is scheduled to ship November 19, and Acclaim is confident that it will have extensive retail distribution. In the UK, the publisher is notorious for questionable publicity stunts, welcoming the controversy they generate. The game is currently available for preorder at Electronics Boutique and GameStop.
