Acclaim splits BMX line, renames M-rated BMX game
BMX XXX loses Mirra, Dave Mirra Freestyle BMX 3 planned.
Acclaim has changed the name of its upcoming M-rated BMX game Dave Mirra BMX XXX to the shorter BMX XXX. In addition, Dave Mirra and the rest of the series' professional riders and licensed equipment won't be appearing in the game. The move seems to have come from the Acclaim side of the deal, as the company wants to be able to have complete control over the content of BMX XXX instead of having to worry about the negative impact that an M-rated game with topless girls and strong language may have on the images of the pro riders and equipment makers.
Acclaim's deal with Dave Mirra, however, is still intact, and the company plans to release the third official game in the Dave Mirra series, Dave Mirra Freestyle BMX 3, sometime next year.
