Your main mission in the game is to save your characters sister who, early on in the game, gets kidnapped by a giant bird. You must find your way through the Forsaken Fortress to save her. After you reach her; however, you are thrown out to sea by the giant bird and find out that you have to accomplish several things before you can save her.
The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker has exceptional gameplay. There aren't many games out there that can match up to it. The object of the game is to go through different levels and find items. In the process, you get to sail all over the Great Sea and see a lot of different things.
One drawback to the game's gameplay; however, is that it feels like the developers tried to make the game as long as possible. This shows in the sense that the game makes you have to go back and forth from one side of the Great Sea to the other to get to where you need to be. It would have been better if the islands were closer together and you didn't have to spend ten minutes getting to where you need to be for a single item or a piece of advice.
The game has a "Just Right" level of difficulty and never really seems too hard or too easy. This makes it more fun to play, since you don't get so frustrated with the game, but don't get bored either. This game is probably one of the best as far as getting the difficulty just right.
If you run out of things to do, the game does offer a large number of mini-games. Most of the mini-games will earn you extra money or get you an extra item. Sometimes, you'll get a treasure map that leads you to an item or money. Other times, you'll get a very unique item that makes the game much easier. There are many opportunities like this throughout the game.
The graphics in The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker are fantastic. Although not very many people like the idea of cell-shading, Miyamoto still deserves credit for being very creative this time. If you don't care how realistic a game is, you'll find the game very interesting in this department.
The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker also has great sound and music. It features enough songs to not annoy you and has compatibility with Dolby ProLogic II. The sound effects are of high quality as well.
If you've got a lot of time to devote to one game, then its worth the money you pay for it. If you don't really have a very long attention span, then it's probably not worth it. The game requires a long attention span and lots of time. If you've got this, then you'll love this game!
