Lara gets date with Nintendo

Latest Tomb Raider game makes Legendary series debut on GameCube, DS this fall; Game Boy Advance version also shipping out later this year.

Not to point out the obvious, but a game heroine with Lara Croft's experience and notoriety can have just about any platform she wants. The buxom beauty recently made the rounds with several consoles in Tomb Raider: Legend, which has been released on the PC, PlayStation 2, Xbox, Xbox 360.

However, one family of platforms that Ms. Croft has often given the cold shoulder to is Nintendo's, only coupling with the Game Boy handhelds a few times. Legend, a game designed as the series' rebirth, is changing all that and will be released on the DS and Game Boy Advance, as well as the previously announced version for the GameCube.

Today, Eidos Interactive announced that Tomb Raider: Legend for the Nintendo platforms will be released this fall. No gameplay details on the handheld versions were revealed, but a statement from the company says the DS and GBA versions will "capture the detail and breadth" of the console versions.

However, owners planning to pick up Tomb Raider: Legend for a Nintendo platform may get more than just a simple port. Eidos brand manger Kathryn Clements says, "There are a host of new and exciting features for Lara on the Nintendo platforms," but did not go into detail.

I'm surprised Tomb Raider is still going. I personally like TR, but mainly only because my memories of the first and second were so good. I can't seem to pick up any recent ones lately... I haven't even been able to pick up TR Legend (Xbox) from the Video store.

to the people who say: - i don't think it will sell well, Lego star wars came to the cube after almost a year behind the xbox and the ps2 versions, it sold more. the gamecube ROCKS.

If they canned the GBA version, it wouldn't mean the DS version would benefit one iota. Handheld versions of these big console releases, more times than not, end up sucking.

Namco is still in business. Ms Pac-man had the same graphics as Pacman. Bother to make frigging sense.

People edios is rumored to be remaking the first Tomb Raider for the DS with improved graphics and additional features.

    Same with Soul Blade.

I think that rocks because I own a DS and will buy it. But then again graphics are everything... I mean just look how awful Ms. Pac-man was, no one played it and Namco went out of business.
Too bad Pac-man couldn't have had better graphics...

Hmm... improvments for Gamecube version, well this is a reversal. I might buy it if it's worth my time and money.
