Tomb Raider: Legend getting GameCubed

Eidos confirms Lara Croft is coming to Nintendo's current-generation console this fall.

With Tomb Raider: Legend coming to the Xbox 360, speculation was rife that the game might be ported to another next-generation console. While that may still happen, it has now been confirmed that Lara Croft's latest adventure will be coming to another current-generation console.

Today, Eidos reps confirmed to GameSpot that it is readying a version of Tomb Raider: Legend for the GameCube. When the game is released this fall, it will mark the series' debut on the GameCube--or any Nintendo console for that matter. It will, however, be the fourth Tomb Raider game for a Nintendo platform, after Tomb Raider: The Prophecy (Game Boy Advance, 2002), Tomb Raider: Curse of the Sword (Game Boy Color, 2001), and Tomb Raider (Game Boy Color, 2000).

Having gone gold last week, Tomb Raider: Legend is set for release on April 11, for the PC, Xbox, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 2. The next-gen edition will sell for $59.99, the current-gen console versions for $49.99, and the PC edition for $39.99. A PlayStation Portable version of the game is due later in the year. Whatever. It wasn't that great of a series, and it isn't that great of an addition. Laura was only popular because of her sex appeal. Sorry, but that's the way it is.

It is really a very interesting notice. I will buy it, of course, since my own gaming plataform is a Game Cube (and yet I canīt stop thinking it was the wisest choice among those available today).

I agree with the guy who says that the 360 is overated. I am yet to be impressed by any 360 games. Guess that developers will only really release any real game for it just by the time revolution is around, so there is no point in buying one now. Most games that run in it can run as well in Game Cube, so why buy it anyway? =/

Of course it's cool that the game is converted to Gamecube, didn't expect it to. But because of PS2,XBOX and PC could use DVD and GC not, I have a fear that the game will be smaller on GC. Let's hope not.

Well... I loved the PS2 and PC versions of the game... I think GameCube users (including myself ^^) will be delighted with this version.

The 360 is highly overated. Go GameCube!

What's the point of releasing it so late, when the Revolution and PS3 would be out by then?

For those who ask who would by it for the GC? People who dont have the latest and greatest PC with a top of the line graphics card, and do own a GC, and no other console (afterall the GC is considerably cheaper than the rest)... I'm not a TR fan but i dont see what there is to complain about...
