Roadkill Update

Midway says title has gone gold; also touts game's radio system, which includes licensed songs, six stations, and seven hours of original programming.

Midway said today that Roadkill, a mission-based combat driving game, has gone gold and is due to retailers next month.

The company also elaborated on the title's in-game radio system, one that changes with the game's multiple venues, according to Midway.

Perhaps taking cues from Rockstar Games' Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, Roadkill features six radio stations with an eclectic selection of licensed music, music by "local bands," a police channel that gives game-related updates, and original programming that features venue-specific advertising and weather warnings, among other things.

Midway specifically announced that the artists and songs, ranging from rock to easy listening, include the following: Judas Priest's "Heading Out to the Highway," Blue Oyster Cult's "Don't Fear the Reaper," and Rick Springfield's "Jessie's Girl," among others.

Roadkill is due for the GameCube, PlayStation 2, and Xbox.
