Red Faction II announced
THQ releases details on the improvements that are being made for the newly announced PC, Xbox, and GameCube versions of this PS2 first-person shooter.
THQ has today announced that PC, Xbox, and GameCube versions of Red Faction II are scheduled for release in March, some five months after the original PS2 version. It's also been revealed today that all three of the versions currently in development will boast a number of improvements on Volition's PS2 original.
"We are very pleased to be bringing an original, internally developed brand like Red Faction II to the GameCube, Xbox and PC," said Alison Locke, executive vice president, North American publishing, THQ. "In addition to groundbreaking Geo-Mod technology, Red Faction II offers gamers a complete entertainment experience with new enhancements and improvements that take advantage of each system's respective hardware."
The GameCube version of Red Faction II, which is in development at THQ's Cranky Pants Games studio, will feature custom animations, improved texture resolution and color, and enhanced lighting specific to the console's hardware. The Xbox and PC versions of the game, which are both being developed by THQ's Outrage Games studio, will boast increased texture resolution and additional multiplayer maps and character models.
Red Faction II is a futuristic first-person shooter in which players assume the role of a nanotech-enhanced soldier named Alias. For more information, check out our full review of the PS2 version of the game.
