- "Too short"
Luigi's Mansion has great gameplay, especially since it is the first to feature Luigi. The game mainly consists of going around and solving puzzles while sucking ghosts up into a vacuum cleaner, which turned out to be very fun, despite the fact that it doesn't sound all that great. The game has a "Just Right" difficulty that makes things fun but not too easy; however, the game does have it's hard parts, as does any game.
One disappointing feature of the game is that you cannot jump, which in turn means there is no platforming in the game. This takes away from the whole concept of buying a game even remotely related to the Mario franchise, since that is what the series is known for, but then again, this game isn't really supposed to be the same as those games.
Luigi's Mansion has a great character model for Luigi himself and many of the enemies; however, everything else looks low-resolution and could really use some work. The developers devoted WAY too much time to putting as many polygons as possible into Luigi and other characters and didn't really put enough time into the scenery.
Luigi's Mansion doesn't really do very well in the sound department. It has a tune that is played too many times throughout the game that has a tendency to annoy the player after a while. While the game features Dolby ProLogic II, it still doesn't feature very many sounds to go with it. Luigi's voice sounds realistic; however, which is probably one of the few things saving this category from REALLY pulling the game's review score down.
Luigi's Mansion is definitely worth the money you pay for it. The game is short; however, so you may want to think twice before you spend your money on it. You can expect to get through the game in about 7 hours. If you find a good deal, buy it. Otherwise, don't.
I had to take off of the game's review score, since it was VERY short. It doesn't really get you an adequate feel for the game before you are done with it. It feels like there should be more too it, which really takes away from it in the long-run.
Overall, Luigi's Mansion is a great game worth getting. Don't delay if you've got money to spare and are a fan of Luigi!
