Game dev tycoon is a game where you create games to try and make a profit. made by green heart games this is a great game to play if you are interested in games outside of just playing them. You play a developer who starts from the days of the C64 where you start as a indie developer in your garage. You start out making text based adventures and end up making games for the PlayStation 5 and games that cost over 50 million dollars to make. along the way you will have to work through the last 35 years of gaming history seeing the rise and fall of Sega's console and ups and downs of pc's.
To make games you need to go through the three stages of development deciding where to put your focus whether its story game play of game engine, these are controlled by moving sliders to put more less focus into these areas.the problem with these slider is that they don't tell you any statistics or how important they are for any genre. This lack of information doesn't help you learn the game or its systems and is perhaps its greatest problem. Without this information its hard to improve your games and since the reviews don't tell you what you did wrong outside of small hints it is up to you to figure it out.This many times caused me to be frustrated and wonder why more detail wasn't included making it easier to learn from mistakes and improve. This lack of information is the games biggest problem.
However even with this problem i would still recommend it if you can work past the lack of communications and repetitive nature of the game. If you can you will have great fun with it, if you can't you can always make your own game instead.
