User Rating: 6.7 | Gallop Racer 6: Revolution (PlayStation 2 the Best) PS2
As of this review, there are 2 Horse Racing games available for PS2. Gallop Racer 2K3 and G1Jockey3. If you are looking specifically for a horse racing game, then don't let the low reader scores of either of these two games dissuade you. For what they are...Horse Racing Simulations...both are excellent games. However, they will not appeal to the general public. That aside, I'd have to recommend G1Jockey3 over Gallop Racer 2003 for the following reasons. - Gallop Racer 2003 graphics/animation slightly less accurate - GR2K3 doesn't have the best manual, and doesn't explain what all the onscreen icons stand for - there's no real storyline in GR2K3 - there are less tracks in GR2K3 On its own, Gallop Racer 2003 is an excellent game of Horse Racing, and it even gives you the ability to place detailed bets and even breed new horses. But if you have a choice between this and G1Jockey3, then go with G1. Although G1 does not have betting or breeding, it overall has so much more to it (including storyline, steeplechases, injuries, suspensions, relationships with stables, etc) Both games have a steep learning curve for the actual horseracing part, but Gallop Racer 2K3 doesn't seem to explain how to race that well, and I didn't feel like I had as much control of the horse as I did in G1Jockey3. So, for horseracing sim fans, both games are an excellent find, as this genre is mostly ignored in the video gaming world...but if you have a choice, skip over Gallop Racer 2K3, and head for G1Jockey3.
