While the Empire ruled the galaxy with its own fleet of cool ships, the Rebellion's set of ships proved to be troublesome for the Imperial military. The original trilogy gave us some iconic ships, and we're checking out some of the best ones, including a few from the upcoming Rogue One film.
A/SF-01 B-Wing Starfighter
The B-Wing wasn't a ship you want to take into a dogfight. It is designed to head through a blockade and destroy large capital ships. While it is a starfighter, it's primarily a bomber.
Home One
Home One is an MC80 Star Cruiser and a capital ship in the Alliance Fleet. Its commander is none other than Admiral Ackbar. It measures in at 1.2 kilometers long.
Millennium Falcon
Probably the most iconic ship in the Rebellion didn't start as a Rebel ship. This YT-1300f Light Freighter was used by smugglers such as Han Solo and Chewbacca. At one point, Lando Calrissian was the owner of this ship and once said, "She's the fastest hunk of junk in the galaxy."
Redemption
Redemption is an EF76 Nebulon-B Escort Frigate and one of the most peculiar-looking ships in the Alliance Fleet. It was primarily used as a medical ship, considering it had advanced facilities on board. This ship is where Luke Skywalker got his mechanical arm from.
RZ-1 A-Wing Interceptor
The A-Wing is a starfighter that has design elements that come straight from the Republic era of the Star Wars universe. It's quick and powerful, and its hyperdrive gives it the ability to travel through hyperspace.
T-47 Airspeeder
One of the more iconic Rebel ships is the T-47 Airspeeder, which was used in Empire Strikes Back to take down AT-ATs during the Battle of Hoth. The Hoth-version ships were modified to be assault fighters and renamed "Snowspeeders." Each ship had two pilots: one pilot and gunner who faced the rear.
UT-60D
New for Rogue One is the UT-60D, also known as the U-Wing. This gunship is used to transport troops into battle. In the upcoming film, it will be used in the Battle of Scarif.
VCX-100 Light Freighter
This light freighter is used to transport cargo, and we saw a modified version of it in the television series Star Wars: Rebels. It will make its cinematic debut in Rogue One.
T-65B X-Wing Starfighter
The X-Wing is one of the coolest ships in the Rebel Fleet. This starfighter had a few variations, but the T-65B is the most notable of the bunch. Luke Skywalker, Biggs Darklighter, and Wedge Antilles are just a few of the renowned pilots of these ships.
BTL Y-Wing Starfighter
Finally, there's the Y-Wing. This fighter-bomber is capable of taking on enemy capital ship, and it first appeared during the Clone Wars. However, the Y-Wing appeared in all three of the original trilogy films. It may be a slow ship, but it is well-shielded and has a lot of firepower on board.
