Ok then, over the last week, I decided to get a game down off the shelf. This one was Frontlines: Fuel of War by THQ. This game was released in 2008 and man, I couldn't run anything else on my computer while playing it. Its an absolute **** to your computer if your running anything else.

When I got the game, I thought my computer could handle it having the minimum specs. So I installed the game and set everything to bare minimum, don't even try. Get the recommended or not at all. In the end, I fried my computer and got a new one with better stats so I could actually run the game.

Now, the game is about 4 hours long give or take an extra hour for AFK and not recording time. Xfire has a few issues from time to time. This makes it quite difficult to follow an almost non-existent story line. All, I found of a story line was that the world was running out of oil and Russia and China teamed up to take out the Coalition, which no-one says what countries are a part of. Given what little story we actually have, we fight for an oil town and then the next thing we know is we are attacking Russia and within 3 hours we own Moscow.

The Red Star, Russians and Chinese, are really easy to kill… I mean just get a headshot with any weapon, 2 shots with a pistol, or about half a clip with the assault rifle sorta as if they had a health bar that you can't see. And while its easy to kill them with any weapon except the assault rifle, you have enough health that rockets don't really hurt either. Ohh and the AI is horrible but I'll get into that a bit later.

With the weapons, you see a large variety of weapons on the ground that you want to pick up but you can't… You are only allowed a very select group of weapons which are have the sure sign give away when they get their yellow box around them.

Now onto the AI. I was in the desert and you would think that their tanks and rockets are pretty accurate. But not at all. I kept seeing rounds going past my head that just kept going and blowing up 5 feet behind me and doing minimal to no damage. This includes my grenades and rockets that landed within 5 feet of the enemy infantry. The only sure way to kill an enemy with an explosion is with an explosive drone and even they can miss from point blank range.

The ability to use drones is probably one of the better parts of this game. But then again, it just makes the game easier when you don't have to be on the frontlines and can just send a drone in to take everything out and your hiding behind a concrete wall out of harms way. This can save you or kill you depending on what your hiding behind and where the enemy are coming from since you arn't in your soldier's view but your drones while you kill everything.

All in all, the gameplay bored me a bit in some sections just because its just not entertaining. I get it. You run in and blow stuff up and then it doesn't really matter what you do otherwise, as long as you kill everything and get your objectives captured. I started the game yesterday afternoon and it took me up until the next day at 8PM to finish it just because I got bored and left for a bit.

So it probably wasn't worth the $50AUD when I got it. Seems like its now worth about $20, which seems about right for this game.
