Fans of Final Fantasy Tactics and Mech based straegy games rejoice!

User Rating: 8.5 | Front Mission: The First DS
Front Mission is a new game from Square Enix for the Nintendo DS. By the looks of it, the game uses the same mapping system and similar turn based combat to upcoming Final Fantasy Tactics Advance 2: The Sealed Grimore. Saying that may make you think that it is a lot like Tactics, however it is built differently and the difficulty is substantially more complex.

The game has two different story modes, which is great for extra gameplay time. Front Mission is a turn based Mech combat sim similar to the Mech Commander game, just with a turn based combat system. The difficulty even on the beginner mode is somewhat challenging even early in the game. For fans of the original, you may find some similiarities, but the game is extremely fun regardless. The visuals are nice and the level design is almost the exact same as Final Fantasy Tactics Advance.

The customization of your party is pretty much endless, you get a variety of weapons to choose from as well as various robot upgrades like armour, CPU and backpack upgrades as well as items that can heal your robot. It is fairly flexible with customizing and you will find a variety of guns and missle launchers to choose from, each with different effects.
