Front Mission Evolved Developer Diary #1 - Prepare for the Evolution of Warfare.
Square when Front Mission Evolved gets bad sales: "Oh my god! Where did we go wrong? We clearly used an American producer so the sales and reviews should be magically high! I think it's the games fault, the whole idea seems to be lacking in anime and Final Fantasy so lets just give it the axe."
Don't blame Front Mission. Blame Call of Duty and casual gamers.
Real time play was needed in the series badly ... but what they've done it too much ... The should have taken the route that Valkyria Chronicles took ... that's right ... I said it ...
this such a fail, this was such an amazing rpg, now we have just another crappy online shooter, don't you people ever get tired of shooting people. Either way deff, a big disappointment, esp. after seeing all the game video's, it was a real shock to find out that my once beloved RPG/Mech strategy game, has now been turned into nothing more than a Mech assault rip off, Where's the vision, or even peek of something innovative, or cutting edge, instead of just the same old dribble in a different package, so it seems Square Enix, who once created some of the best cutting edge game's of the time, is going down the same path as so many, for the quick buck and easy upkeep, on yet another online, (shoot-shoot-spawn-spawn) bore fest of the same repetitive crap. Let's hope that Square Enix is simply having a dry spell, and not that the recent string of games that have been, truly less than stellar, and a few i felt, were nothing more than dribble, with a nice sound track, if they don't find some real substance, and innovation, they may find there lively hood, might not be as green as they thought. Either way, this Mech Assault/Clone, is a true travesty, and I will have to decline rewarding them with my money, though you do as you wish, good day.
I hope this game is good. I really like the Front Mission series
This is not Front Mission, this is garbage.
@Gelugon_baat Thanks for the info. The fact that they did this game as "Evolved" to keep it "isolated" as you say, is just frustrating because is like they are accepting they are probably wrong. I really want to play this game, but its a shame that its a "sacrifice" of the classic game-play of the series, which is unique. SE is my karma... hope they went to bankrupt =P
I'm not sure about this one... yet.
looks too much like armored core.
Omg... They ruined a great classic, i played almost all the previews ones even the SNES ones... Damm man this is not FM anymore is more like Armored Core... Nice job Square... u going to ruing the game just like FF is getting ruined.
I love that this game is going to be in an action format, cuz personally I hate Turn-based, but from what I can tell this was originally from a turn-based series, I hope this game plays well, but I kinda feel sorry for the fans of turn-based games.
@monchoago Making new IPs with new names is a risky thing - Microsoft did drop the PC version of Alan Wake to keep development and production costs low after all. As for existing IPs, well, as you can see, Square Enix is using an established IP but with a different title. I believe the reason for using established IPs is so that they are easier to market (as well as have a ready-made base of rabid fans who snap up anything that has the name of the IP in it). On the other hand, the different title makes it easier for Square Enix to disown this game as an "isolated" failure and ditch the "Evolved" version if it fails.
I think it's about time front mission made a game where you control a wanzer directly - really don't see what all these fanboyz are crying about. If they pull this off right it should combine the awesome storyline and universe of a FM game with an intense shooting / multiplayer experience of a first class action game. I personally can't wait to jump into the cockpit of a wanzer and startt blowing **** up.
I will pass on this one, for me old Front Mission were much better. I would prefer MechWarrior than this crap.
It's looking really good never got to play the older ones but this looks sweet.
I was waiting for this thinking it'll be a turn-based game. This is desappointing (T-T)
gameplay looks fun but the graphics looks weak
I'm not sure on this one yet....need a little more.
@Gelugon_baat I think you are right, and that is a real mess, because by doing that, SE is sacrificing the old quality RPG games where done before Enix. Look at the FF franchise: is being changed and destroyed, now there are no towns to explore, and it is a linear game. I think this game will be great, but not worth the sacrifice, I loved the previous FM games, and I miss a lot the old strategic quality... This game should be other thing, apart of the franchise, because is changing elemental things of it, and, as in FF, ruining it.
Bot and mech games really took a beating the past several years. Let's hope this one can stand out of the crowd. I'm interested but I'll wait until a full review.
wow it is looking good I was scared at first.

It would appear that one of the ulterior motives of Square Enix's recent policies of working with foreign companies is to gain experience in designing games of genres other than RPGs and simulators. Would this mean that Square Enix intends to go toe-to-toe with other corporations that are well-entrenched in genres that Square Enix is currently not established enough in?
