To be honest, this is my first Front Mission game and I have to say, the game is worth playing. Front Mission 4 is an RPG/Strategy game. If you have played the more popular, Final Fantasy Tactics, Front Mission 4 plays just like it. If you liked FFT or FFTA, you'll definitely like this game. The game plays out with you controlling different mechs called wanzers. In Front Mission 4, you start off in a training exercise with one of the games main character, Elsa, a wanzer pilot working for the Durandal. This will explain all the basics to you. As you progress through the game, more battle tutorials will appear on your menu to show you more techniques. You will get different mission with different objectives. Most will say to destroy all enemy wanzers but some mission will become complicated and ask you to save a friendly wanzer, destroy boss, or don't let enemy wanzers escape. Not only do you get to control Elsa and the Durandal team but also a wanzer team located in Venezuela, a wanzer pilot named Darril and his friends gone AWAL, Renges and Chaffeur. The story in Front Mission 4 well go back and forth with these two wanzer teams. As you go farther in the game, you will gain more characters to play with and different types of wanzers to buy. You can also customize your wanzers, which is the fun part of the game. As you win missions, you will gain money at the end. The amount of money depends on the amount of damage your wanzers received and how many are left alive or dead. Once you have a lot of money (and I mean a lot because the parts are expensive) you can go to the wanzer shop. Here you can buy different wanzer parts, weapons, or you can buy a whole set. You can also make your wanzers different colors and change their names. Also, your pilot will level up and gain EP points. With EP point you can buy skills for your wanzers to better your chances of winning. Now lets talk about gameplay. The game is long! So long that some battles will last you an hour, even more in some cases! This is a plus! The graphics, as with all Square-Enix games are amazing. The sound of weaponry being fired and wanzers being destroyed is right on the dot! Replay value of this game is high, since you want to go through it and be even better than before. So, all in all, Front mission 4 is a great game. I recommend it to all fans of turn based and strategy games.
