A stylized MMO basketball game? Wow...

User Rating: 7.3 | FreeStyle Street Basketball PC
Honestly, I thought this game sucked when I first played it. After understanding what to do, and leveling up, It plays just like any other popular street basketball game. But.....without the eyecandy graphics, complex controls, and the AI.

This game is basically a stylized, 3D but looks like a 2D, simple online basketball game where you can play against other people online. You create an account for free, then in the game you make a character, Male or Female, make a name, and get started. Its basically a lobby where you can join the channel associated with your current "level", play with others on a 1 on 1, 2 on 2, or make a team for 3 on 3 matches. Since Im only a trial user I cant talk about what the full game has to offer. I dont even know what the Pro league is like. Or if and how the 5 on 5 works on this game. But I can surely say that, this game is fun.

Unfortunately, the game can get boring or frustrating if you team up with players that arent serious, or dont know how to play, or are just plain selfish with the basketball or "cocky". The game's fun also ends when you reach the trial level limit where you cant gain anymore points or skills after 15. The full game gives you more items, levels up to 45, and a Pro league. The best thing to do then is to upgrade to full account, start a new character from scratch, or delete the game. Basically, the only reason to keep this game fun is to play with friends, where you can meet up if you guys arent a WoW fanatic and prefer basketball.

The game has very simple WASD and arrow keys which is all you need to play and control your baller. The animations are quite neat at times, the skills and clothing items you can get are interesting and cool. All your skills, FG%, stats, online ranking are recorded which is nice. I think that from the screenshot renders of the realistic courts they made in the Images section, that this game is capable of looking like that. I dont know anything about this or the reason to go stylized toon shaded, but this game could of gotten me to get a Full version if it looked that amazing.

Too bad though, this game still has the bugs that are annoying since it could cause a win or lose situation in games. Things like the shot-clock violation, the lagging of users in some courts, the fact that sometimes when you score a shot or dunk.....it doesnt, and you have to try to score again. Theres some other small bugs, but the most worse one is the lag or timing out of users. It gets really frustrating because it ruins the game experience. Anyhow, I think people should try the trial of this game first, and I can probably assure you it will get addictive. Im not planning to upgrade since I dont go for MMO games, but if you like what you try, Im sure the full version wont disappoint for 20 bux.
