One of those less known exceptional games you might not have played...

User Rating: 9.5 | Freelancer PC
I started playing this game as I was looking back at old PC games, looking for quality, looking for a classic I had yet to enjoy yet. Fortunately I found one.

I had this game recommended to me.

Pros

- Huge open galaxy to explore

- Exceptionally atmospheric space travel with sense of speed, stargates, starlanes all effectively used.

- Exceptional atmospheric music, good voice acting and sound.

- Well structured single player plotline

- Wide variety of ships, weapons, accessories to purchase

- Travel between systems using stargates and lanes with no loading between any areas.

- Earn money by trading, moving freely anywhere.

Cons

- Slightly dated graphically now, but still pretty good

- Single player plot isn't particularily long, although the range of other free activities gives this game great longetivity.

Honestly all in all I have been reeled in by this game. It has a great sense of space atmosphere that I love, this comes from the sounds, the activity of each system, the communication between ships etc. Even the small things like being able to scan any ships cargo when you are close enough. Little things like that make this game stand out and create an absorbing atmosphere.

I heard they cancelled Freelancer 2, which is a great shame as I certainly would have bought it. This game gets a lot of things right and at the same time has huge potential to get even better with the right team behind it.

Really a brilliant game that doesn't get the recognition it deserves. It is amazing that I only heard about this game recently. If you haven't played it yet, try it, I guarantee it will suck you in.
