Dirt had the "Showdown" spin-off, and now Forza has it's "Horizon" spin-off.
Good devs can pull this off, and make it a fun, arcade-style racer. Nothing wrong with that, really.

E3 2012: Forza Horizon isn't just a watered down arcade racer. Its the game you already love in an open world setting.
Dirt had the "Showdown" spin-off, and now Forza has it's "Horizon" spin-off.
Good devs can pull this off, and make it a fun, arcade-style racer. Nothing wrong with that, really.
It definitely looks awesome and I'm buying it, but don't diss Test Drive Unlimited like it's not worth the play. TDU might have things I would eliminate myself like some social aspects, but if Horizon's not going to be as open world as TDU then keep your TDU thoughts for yourself. TDU has the biggest maps to date in any type of game, period.
Hope its not just cosmetic damage, does anyone know if three is a simulation damage option like most forza games??
Don't get why people are saying this is killing Forza. I think it looks quite fun and its not like it will affect FM5, since its a totally different developer. Sure I would have liked it to be more realistic like the core games, but a majority of people wouldn't like that and they have to make something that will sell.
@agpickle Finally somebody who reads before making a comment =)
To re-iterate what agpickle said, Playground Games is the producer of Forza Horizons. Turn 10 is still in charge of developing Forza 5.

"Arcady"? Did you even pay attention to the video?
It was stated as plain as day that, just like in previous Forza entires developed by Turn10, the game will be just as "arcady" or "simulation" as you want it, via options like "anti lock brakes on/off" "turn assist on/off" etc..
...Just like how it is in Forza III.
The glare in this game is nuts. Way overdone, looks terrible in the daytime portions.
If they keep the same engine from forza 3 and 4 this will be awesome! This is the only thing about forza 3 I missed.
@SixBone Oh man THANK YOU for sharing your opinion. Everybody was wondering what you thought.
@Master_Adeum i could care less what u think bud..u only been a member on this site for 2 years and u think u have a clue. I been gaming since before you were an itch in your father's pants...plz
@SixBone So because ive only been a member of this site for 2 years i dont have a clue? I've been gaming as long as you, son -- and i'm an avid car fan who loves racing games. To say a game looks crappy based on a trailer that does not show much about the game shows that even tho you're an older man, you act like a little child.
Good day, kiddo.
Got a bad feeling this game will only focus on the customisable Japanese imports, such as Honda or Mazda. Not seeing any Ferraris or Lamborghinis
@Chris_53 You realize Mazda are fords right? ( Starting in the 90's I believe )
As in they have ford engine's. But if you were talking about the RX-7, Then yes that was JDM.
@Chris_53 No way... No No No No No No No way. Turn10 has modeled too many European cars just to throw the models away.
i can't believe this. Forza is killing no .. MURDERING the new NFS with this , I'd take this anytime over the crappy blob that the NFS series became. gotta buy me an xbox :)
@tgchan If you would take the chance to read once in a while, you'd see that it is Forza. It will have forza physics (most likely arcaded-down slightly to appeal to a bigger range of potential racers) in a free-range environment
The fact that this game went open world and I think I saw police and no barriers, some manufacturers are going to lost to this game. I sense even more dumbing down of the FM physics engine. One video showed cars going from tarmac to dirt and pulling off pretty high jumps and landing, funny thing the car didn't lose control considering it clearly bottomed out the suspension. This game looks almost a carbon copy of Hot Pursuit. I thought it was just going to be free roam in FM world, but this looks like an EA like NFS approach....I want to learn more because I saw absolutely no structure as to what the hell you are doing at all. I don't want mindless gameplay with what is pretty much the only sim type driving game...DIRT 3 is utter trash!
this was exactly what i was hoping for......open world street racing with the forza physics is gonna be awesome! My only other hope is that they keep 90% of the features from Forza 4 ( i.e. car set-ups, customization , rivals mode, etc...). Loved the scenes with the audi and lancer on the dirt road ( where they belong ). This game could be absolutely epic.
I've been talking about a street racer/simulator for years, way before the Forza series even existed. I figured Sony would have a GT offshoot along those lines at some point, guess not bravo to MS. Now Hopefully the game will not be top arcadey.
@Colekern Probably just a single cameraman (if that), and no they were not being serious.
I hope the physics model will be less PGR and more Forza. An open world street based racing game with more sim based physics would be very interesting
@d12dotcom In the session we sat in on, he explained that the physics model is the one from Forza Motorsport. I should be getting hands on the game in the next hour or so, and we'll see if it holds true!
@TylerW Cheers Tyler. How was it? If its as good as I hope it is, looks like I'll be buying a wheel for the 360 finally
@d12dotcom First impressions were that it felt a lot more arcadey than the Forza we know and love. Its a real limited demo with only one car (A Dodge Viper/SRT-10) so I couldn't get a feel for a couple of different cars, but driving that car with no traction control / Stability management still felt really hooked up. The control felt good, like a good middleground between sim handling and arcadey fun. PGR4 is probably a good analog. I shared a few more thoughts on my time with it in video form that should be up pretty soon if it isn't already.
I don't know, you didn't get any points for driving through fences in Motorsport. This game looks to be about much less than racing, and I would imagine the racing is lessened -- this coming off a game that had pretty poor racing physics and car dynamics (ala how engines rev and how tires grab traction).
Me thinks that the cars are too similar. Cars have very different power bands and I don't think Forza takes advantage of that enough.
i heard a lot of people saying that Forza is a lil arcady but as a game (lets not forget its a game first) it looks like a lot of fun
