Number 9 (250TR) just unlocked for me in Beaumont during an online free roam challenge.
Since number 8 it's been about 500 miles, 5 hours(1 in single, 4 online)
Game stats at the time: 28% complete, 18 hrs played, 1,710 miles driven, discoveries all 100% except final barn find.
Used fast travel 10+ times in single player. 50+ in online free roam.

I rarely ever used fast travel, and I unlocked my 9th car before I got my 6th level wristband.

I have the purple wristband, 8 out of 9, I play free roam and have level 1 for online. I am not in a rush to get the barn finds honestly. Not a big deal, if I get it I get it, I haven't really used the barn find cars all that much as I mostly just cruise a little in them.

I have all. I got number 8 at 2,000ks (Testa Rossa) and 9 at 2,100 ks (DBR1), I noted the distances as there were threads about what made them pop. I only fast travelled back to my garage, and I did that a lot. If I had an event across the other side of the map from where I was I would fast travel to garage then drive from there.

The 8th finally spawned for me, as soon as I bought some cars at the Autoshow. It could have several parameters you must fulfill but it immediatly activated after buying some cars. Fairly certain I had used fast travel a few times before that as well, at least back to the race hub. Now just waiting on the DBR1.

I only use fast travel to go back to the hub, I'm not wasting money or doing those stupid PR events just to skip driving to the next outpost. I drive everywhere else. I have yet to get the last car (Aston Martin something or other).

My ninth was the 250TR at around 20hours played. I occasionally used fast travel to the hub and rarely to outposts. It had been about five hours since car eight. I had just finished the third street race series, and I was racing gold events but had not done the final showdown yet.
From my post in the other topic:
The barn finds seem to be based on time but not as simple as "at time x, you receive car y." I think that on some regular interval the game tries to give a you barn find, but it "rolls" to see if you actually get one and which one you get - kind of like a random rare loot system in an rpg.
If it works like this, more time played should eventually produce the last barns find. Some that fast travel extensively should have lower playtime than players that don't. This could indirectly reduce the chance, but some will get lucky and receive them early regardless of how they play.

I haven't received rumours for 8 and 9 yet.
It's been an age since I got the 7th rumour too. They seemed to be pretty evenly spaced before that.
All races, showcases, showdowns, etc complete. #1 ranked. All roads travelled. Only thing I haven't finished is discount signs (83/100).
Never used fast travel until 2 or 3 times right at the very end of career.

After Barn Find 7, I literally play another 4-5 hours before Number 8 showed up. Number 9 came about 1/2 hour after that.
It's worth noting that the only thing I had changed in my gameplay in that 4-5 hour span between Barn 7 and 8 was that I went online for the first time, and I was also buying up some cars, but that didnt seem to have anything to do with it.
How may of you are missing Barn 8 and 9, and if you are, have you played online yet?
Maybe thats it.....

Probably 5 hours after getting the 8th barn find and I never used fast travel during the game.

I got the eighth barnfind not long after seven, they all came pretty quickly. Except the ninth. I utilized fast travel a lot. I started reading about it, and have stopped using fast travel as much. Sure enough, maybe 3 or 4 play hours after reducing my usage of fast travel, there's now a shiny 250 TR in my garage.

I've had 8 for quite a long while now. I really never fast travel unless needing to get to my friends online. My 9th is the 250TR of course. I've done everything but find all the signs in single player.
