Best Buy has Fallout new vegas pre-owned for $8.99 but Ultimate Edition is $40. My brother has the ultimate edition on his laptop, but I would prefer it on xbox. Should I get it used and play the dlc on his laptop with one of his older saves just to get the experience of playing the dlc or would it not be worth it without having my own character. I'm not really interested in any dlc weapons. Plus I can console command one of his saves to fit my liking right?

All the DLCs are probably worth at least a playthrough but the only one that's a must play would be Old World Blues, with that being said I'd say buy the vanilla New Vegas and play the DLC on your brother's PC. Also $40 is a bit steep for an almost two year old game.

If you haven't done so yet, I recommend getting Fallout 3 GOTY edition over New Vegas Ultimate edition. Not only is the game much better, all the DLC is also eons better than New Vegas' and you can find it for <$20 online or $20 at Gamestop.

The DLC for New Vegas is excellent, so pick up the ultimate edition.

I would have to say get the Ultimate Edition. Whenever I play a Fallout game (even when New Vegas wasn't as good as 3) I always want more when I'm done. Get it outta your system! Get the one with all the DLCs

I have the Ultimate Edition and it saved me money rather than buying the add-ons individually.

I was thinking of getting just the vanilla new vegas, and playing the dlc on my brothers laptop because he has the Ultimate Edition, and play through them just to experience them because I don't mind using his character and not mine if it were on xbox.

$40 for the Ultimate Edition... which has been out maybe 4 or 5 months.

Get the Ultimate Edition, the DLC for New Vegas is all pretty good except for Dead Money.

7 months actually... I just think it's silly to pay that much when all he has to do is find a friend that owns the Ultimate Edition and borrow his DLC disc and install them to his HDD, there is probably also ways of finding them online.

Ultimate Edition is a must. The DLCs are amazing and they actually tie up the story of the Courier. Buy the Ultimate Edition you wont be sorry.
