I know this topic has been made before but I couldn't find it using the crappy search system. I just got a digital camera though so I figured I'd post my setup. Tell me what you guys think.

We really need an official thread for this topic, I see at least 2-3 of these a week no offence.

But ya, I don't have a digital camera on hand to capture my awesome setup. :(

Yeah its nice and all, but that's a $7000 projector. Give me a few years to get my profession started and I can maybe afford that, but for now I guess a crappy ole $2500 65inch DLP will have to do.

EDIT: not to mention the surround sound would be too much for my apartment haha.  I have some surround sound headphone atm and they work great.  Once I get a real house tho I will probably drop a few grand on a surround sound system.

Like I said, grab a sanyo Z4 for 1400 bucks and you'll have a non-burnin 100+ inch screen that'll wow you with both dvd and xbox360.

You guys wouldn't mind giving the prices of your tvs and where you bought them would you? I'm on the lookout for an hdtv, even though my setup isn't going to look as good in my cramped room.

Terrell, I'd hope you'd do your homework before asking a question like that.  They actually ARE one of the top FP projector companies in the 3K range.  Careful whom your posting with..they just might know alot more than you think:)

1) Yes I agree, my couch is about 13 feet away from the TV which I dont like. Come December Ill be setting up my room in the basement, (its a big apartment style room :), so itll be much better.

2) The speakers are BOSE which cost me a crap load of money, they are hidden (theres one in every corner of the ceiling around the room, there great)

3) I dont know whats wrong with my cat, lol

Thanks for the link. However, in all the HT magazines, I never see Sanyo making must have items. The link is a year old. Do you have any recent stuff? I don't trust Sanyo to be a premeire company in the realm of HT unless you can set me straight. It's just that when I hear Sanyo, I think bargain/cheap.

you can see one of the 5 speakers above the TV. And trust me, thats not "such a small screen" its actually really big, but it looks small because its on such a big fireplace mantle in such as large room. Any TV would look small there.

I will also say that the sanyo z4 is a great choice.  There is also the z5.  Also look at the panasonic pt-ax100u or pt-ae900u.  They can all be had for around 2000 or less.  They are all great projectors.

I have freinds that have these and they are probably the best setups for the money.  As long as you can have a fairly dark room, these are better choices then any regular tv for the price.

When I bought my 65 mits crt tv a few years ago, I didn't even look at projectors thinking they were too expensive, until I went over to my friends house who had a sanyo plv-z2 at the time and was amazed!

with your 360's where they are, do you guys ever having game freezing problems? I heard that having your 360's so close to the wall cant be good. cus thats one of the reasons that peoples 360's freeze when playing a game. I read in the Xbox forums that its a good idea to have the 360 at least a foot away from the wall and well ventilated on the sides.

terrell...here ya go.-->  your request has been granted:)-->http://www.projectorcentral.com/ax100u_plv-z5.htm

I suggested the Z4 because it is a very good FP for cheap.  Sanyo/panasonic are pretty much the tops for 2K-3K fp's and have been for a while now.

INVA-->opinions you want, I'll throw a few out there...remember, you asked.  As far as Bose go, our avsforum refers to them as "blows"...great marketing, but poor speakers:)  I still think the tv is small for 13'...not a big deal but I wouldn't be able to play on it being it would wrench my neck after a while:)  Good move to the basement, level off the set, and get it a bit closer and you'll be happier! :)

Nice. When I you originally posted, it seemed as if you were saying that Sanyo was a major player in HT. My original assertion still stands. It's a cheapie brand. I think their primary concern is their digital camera/camcorder divisionis bigger than their HT division. I think Sharp, Mitsubishi, Sony's Cineza line, Optoma and Infocus offer comparable/better projector options. Sorry, but IMO Sanyo is not a major player in any HT sector.

I stqand by my comment.  I'd say Sanyo's sales are top one or two in the Fp department under 3K.  Obviously you can't count a Runco FP as a competitor (some range 50-250K)  I'm speaking solely of affordable Fp's here.  Panny has had some very good players also...its a toss up.  IF you didn't know about Sanyos rank in FP's, how is one to assume you know anything about Fp's in general?  I have an Infocus...great FP, BUT all equals, the Infocus models competing with Sanyo/panny are higher in price and simply being beat in sales.  Am I brand loyal to Infocus...not one bit.  I feel their marketing has gone to heck, and the Sanyo's of the world are creating some great products for less money.  Goto the avs forum sometime..you may learn something.  Better yet, listen to someone whom KNOWS HT rather than speculate on products you have no clue exist.Â
