Yeah, either it's your AV inputs aren't in correctly or your system just needs time to cool down. I think you find all the help you need in the 360 warranty booklet that you get with the console.

One red light is a power issue.  Unplug it, move it to a well ventilated area and plug it into a different socket.

Sometimes it does it and sometimes not.  Itll load the XBOX 360 screeen and then go to a black screen that says SYSTEM ERROR CONTACT CUSTOMER SUPPORT.......it seems i have to re sync the controller EVERY damn time.  And this system is ONLY  a week old.

1 red light - connection issue or hardware failure

2 red lights - overheating

3 red lights - general hardware failure caused by overheating

4 red lights - problems with the audio/video connection

I don't really know what's the difference between "hardware failure" and "general hardware failure" but they are just as bad. Try connecting everything again, If that doesn't fix it you have a hardware failure and you'll have to send it in.

Try the towell trick while you wait for the box.

Technically yes.  No matter how many red lights you're getting it's not letting you play any games.  At least with the one red light it usually fixes itself once you unplug/replug everything.

In my experience, this seems to not be fixable. It seems to be some hardware failure NOT covered by MS's special extended warranty. The symptoms are the same as the 3 red lights, but with one light they will not fix it for three years like the 3 red lights.

i am also angry that microsoft lost my extended warranty that i paid for.

What else does it say besides "System Error"? It should say something like E74 or E66. What error number do you have?

hey you guys. YES the problem might be with the Hard Drive or the CABLES. BUT if you do re-connect the cables and take off the hard drive and the problem STILL consists then the problem is with your xbox. i sent mine in to the repair center cuz there was nothing else i could do. i did eveything. so send your xbox in even if they say they wont take it cuz itdoesnt have the 3 flashing red light. what do you have to lose right? if you guys get an update plz let me know.

Mine just did this a couple of days ago. If you get the "E74" error it means that its an A/V cable/input problem

To find out whats wrong, press the "Sync" Button and the "Eject button" at the same time.

The number of red lights will change.

1 Red Light= 1

2 Red Light = 2

3 Red Light = 3

4 Red Light = 0

It will change 4 times, write them down then google it.

If you get 1022, it means the a/v cable is shot, so try and borrow one off a friend, DO NOT BUY A NEW ONE UNLESS YOU KNOW ITS THE PROBLEM!!!

If that doesn't change anything, it means there is a problem with the HANA chip encoder (the port at the back of the console, part of the graphics card)

If that is the case, it means youll have to send it to microsoft. Hope ive been helpful
