I played the demo and I found it not scary at all (and I am easilly scared).

I hear people saying that they get scared because of the enemys that are always appearing from behind, I don't know about that because those parts aren't in the demo.

The face of the enemys aren´t scary, they are just full of blood.

When I finished the demo I saw that little video showing all the cool stuff about Bioshock and laughed when that women on fire jumped to the water and our character threw electricity to the water when shewas still in mid air.

Actually, I alsolaughedwhen they were hitting those electric wires.

So here is my question, is Bioshock scary? Because from what I saw, it has funny moments in it.

I think it's alot more freaky then scary. The level with the actor guy, was one of the freakiest I've ever seen in a game.

No. In my opinion, Bioshock is not scary. There might be some eerie moments revolving around places that aren't well lit but other than that, if you pay attention to what you're doing, you wont get any frights. Enemies might jump out and attack unexpectedly, but as i said, if you pay attention, it shouldnt shock you too much.

It's not horrifyingly scary, it has it's moments. The story it's self is pure genius though and adds to everything. Fort Frolic is by far my favorite part of the game. Sander Cohen FTW.

minorly scary... a couple and really A COUPLE in the whole game where something jumps out at you.... but if you have your tv turned up loud enough then you can actually hear theenemies and where they are at especially if you have surround sound... whether its them breathing or muttering to themselves

Scary video games NEVER scare me. FEAR was a joke as far as scariness goes. But BioShock was pretty freaky IMO. It wasn't so much the faces or the blood.....it was the lighting and the way things moved in and out of shadows.......the way you would hear things in the same room as you, spin around, and try to figure out where they were. Those splicers that crawled on the ceilign were pretty freaky too. I dunno if I ever actualy jumped at a noise but I played that whole game on edge, almost sweating.

Which I think goes to showhow great the atmosphere is and the attentionthe designers paid to the detail of the environment. There wasn't any ONE thing scaryor freaky. The whole setup was.

Good game.

reading this makes me want to go play bioshock in the dark tonight. thanks everyone :-)

bioshock made me jump a couple times but it made me play the entire game on the edge of my seat. one part i liked was i looked down at a table to pick up stuff, look up and just see the shadow of someone behind me against the wall. definately gave me the chills for a sec.

great stuff!

It's the mood of the game that people find scary. It's dark, the place is falling apart you hear voices running around you and you just don't know what's going to be around that next corner. I was watching my little nephews and they wanted to see the game so I showed them the beginning, when you first arrive at Rapture. The younger one who is 8 years old asked me to stop playing after about 10 minutes because he started to get nervous. Yeah, real responsible uncle I am, huh. BTW, I only play this game at night with the lights off. It's not the same when it's 2 in the afternoon and bright and sunny out.

It's not scary in the way a survival horror game would be scary, but there are moments that can make you jump a bit. There are also some eerie moments in the game, but I wouldn't call it "scary."

Anything scary about the game is instantly negated by the fact that dying is only a mere inconvenience rather than a punishment. The game is just very brilliantly atmospheric, and abit unsettling at times.

It's eerie but not scary. With all the splicers talking back at you, you'll actually find it a bit funny sometimes. The whole story overall is meant to be more dramatic anyways and you'll know what I mean.

I think more suspenseful than scary. There are some parts that will make you jump, but only because of the timing of the events and the mode around it. Great game. Check it out.

It has its moments. But, unlike most horror games you can actually hear your enemies before you see them, so it dampens the fear a lot. They will be 'mumbling' stuff before you even get close to them. The scariest part is when you are in the dentists room....thats one part i'll never forget.

What's so bad about the dentist's room? All it is is just tennis balls and tennis rackets and a tennis ball-launching machine. Are you talking about the surgeon's room? Cause my friend got freaked out when he was doing that stuff with the lady. I laughed because he was like, "An intruder? He's ugly. Ugly! UGLY!" Teehee!

No, not at all. I was actually very nervous about getting it because I too am VERY easily scarred. But thankfully it was not a least bit scary, just jumpy sometimes, and turned out to be one of the best games I've ever played.

The Orange Box on the other hand.....I thought I could play through Half-Life 2 no problem but it turned out to be too scarry for that I had to stop playing. Go figure :(

Its more freaky than scary, I mean its no where near as scary as the Condemned series, or silent hill series. But just the kind of things that the enemies say is just freaky. But since theres loads of those lke tube things that revive you whenever you die, the game just stops being scary or even hard for that matter.

It's not scary, but there are points where stuff pops out of nowhere and... kills you. So a change of pants might be needed.

I think it depends on if you want it to be scary. If you take the time to really emerse youself into the game then yeah, it can be scary.
