Okay so before I got my new xbox 360 I was mainly a pc gamer and only played on my friends 360 from time to time but now that I do have one I created a new profile was wondering is there anyway for me to get some of my old saved games and achievements from my old profile on the other xbox to my new profile on my new xbox ?

I am a kind of a noob to the xbox so please help if you can.

Thanks :)

Achievements, no. They're tied to one profile and one only.

As for save games, I'm not entirely sure. Why didn't you just transfer the old profile instead of creating a new one?

a very long process involving a USB stick. transferring bit by bit

edit: actually, they are tied to the profile, you can't move profiles.

The transfer cable is for transferring Xbox game data and profiles from one hard drive to another.

Thank you you got there first.

TC please dont take this the wrong way but people seem to create new profiles then expect to be able to swap everything over before doing research, its quite a common question on these forumsthat seems to be asked after the account has been created. But yeah transfer cables are for moving ( NOT COPYING ) data to a new xbox or bigger hard drive but even they are a rip off because this can be done using just a USB flas drive.

Think about it if you could just copy data to a new profile then think how easy it would be to pirate DLC or use game saves to boost gamerscore.

I think there was a "Recover Gamertag" option in "My Xbox" somewhere, if you have a Xbox Live account. I believe you can move profiles like that. Haven't tried it though and I don't know if it really works like that.

Your data is linked to specific profiles. If you want the data on your friend's Xbox, you'll have to transfer it to the same profile on your own Xbox. They don't allow data to be transferred between profiles, probably to prevent cheating.

Can't you just use Xbox LIVE to recover you're profile?

Definitive answer: No on both counts.

You cannot transfer achievements from one profile to another.

You cannot transfer game saves from one profile to another.

That is also true. Another answer: The purpose of transfer cables is that if you want to transfer your data to a new console then you can go right ahead and do it, but you can't transfer stuff tied to your account to another, I forgot to mention that.
