I have not wiped or cleaned my console yet since owning it at launch. It is pretty dusty but I haven't been arsed to clean it yet, I need to buy a few microfiber rags and get to it ASAP. Anyways don't just use any rag as you'll scratch the glossy surface.

Get a clean microfiber rag, and a can of compressed air. With short bursts blow off the major dust particles on top of the console, then with whatever light dust is left, use the microfiber rag gently and wipe it clean.

When it comes to dust in the vents, I've heard people recommend using a low powered vacuum with an attachment to suck out the dust.

- Microfiber towel/rag

- Electronic dust blower can things(they are like $5 at walmart)

Do not use windex or water or you'll regret it.

The top of the console scratches so easily, it is rather pathetic, compressed air doesn't really work all that well for getting dust off that surface and even microfibre clothes scratch it. I've not found anything that doesn't scratch it, turn your Xbox One into the light and you'll see lots of tiny little scratches on that glossy surface.

I sold the Xbox One now and got a PS4 and the glossy top of that doesn't scratch at all, I wipe it with my hand and there no tiny little scratches anywhere....

Maybe the Day One edition batch were made from cheap shit? I dunno I had two of them and both ended up with the same result, the console would attract dust in a way I've never seen before, then look like it had water on the surface with the way the dust scattered on both.

The PS4 is way better in build quality though, only problem with that console is they forgot to put feet on one end and so it rocks when you push it down lol.

I just use a "swiffer" duster. Picks up dust with ease and doesn't just brush it off like a regular duster or cloth. To clean the inside, you'll have to use the air-dusters... but to save you time and money, you can just cover the console with a cloth when it's not in use.
