Hey, I'm a Canadian living in Asia.

When I bought my 360 a year or so ago it came with what I assume to be an HDMI hookup (not vga) instead of what i'm hearing is the "standard" component cables

Are these cables available back home? Or is this a eastern thing?

There is currently no way to use an HDMI cable with your 360. No matter where you get it from.

i have a Japanese xbox 360 too, they apparently have a different method to do component cables (a much tidier one ) its called a D-Cable and that's what your mistaking for HDMI... don't worry i went through the same thing
