60GB Live Starter Kit

I was just browsing Play.com and looking at the 'Coming Soon' section and I noticed this:

All for £50 (+ free delivery)! Surely this is an awesome deal? Baring in mind the Live Gold Membership is worth £15 and the Headset about £13. You're getting the 60GB for hardly anything. Also, I work in a Gamestation and we sell the 20GB hard drive for more then that price!

I got my 360 a month before the price drop and was planning to hang on and get a 60GB but Microsoft said they wasn't planning to do the price drop in Europe, so I just brought the 20GB, I was pretty annoyed but I guess with this I can get the 60GB hard drive for fairly cheap.

So, will anyone else do this deal? Also, how would you go about transfering all your save data to the new hard drive?

Not a great deal for me seeing how I already have a headset and subscription to live. Not to mention it doesn't say anything about a transfer cable, so I guess you screwed if you have a full 20gb drive that you wanna migrate to the 60gb.Thomasdeleo

I already have a headset too, but I'd just sell that on Ebay and you could do the same with the Live subscription. Then the money you get from that you can buy a transfer cable. Just £50 for a 60GB hard drive would be a decent price, but you get all the extras too.

why doesnt it come with a transfer cable? I mean they have the nerve of adding a ethernet cable :|Tjeremiah1988

If you are going to pay $100 for the 60 GB hard drive and all it comes with, I don't see why you wouldn't spend the extra $50 to double your hard drive space with the 120 GB HDD.yentar480

Because I spend £50 on this deal and then I sell the headset and my 20GB hard drive, making me back some money meaning I would have only actually spent £25/30 for a 3 month subscription and a 60GB hard drive. It just makes more sense, plus I can't afford £100 just for a 120GB as I need to re-new my Live in January.

its great if you decide you want an arcade for your first 360 or didnt think you would need a harddrive but realized you would need one later on. another great deal is on xbox.com they have a 20 refurb hard drive and 3 months of live for 29 bucks. better deal seeing as you dont really need that much space and live along for 3 months is 19 bucks

THIS IS WHAT I POSTED ON ANOTHER THREAD: i bought a 60 gig pack that had the hdd, ethernet cable, headset and 3 months live. i then got a free transfer cable from ms. after i put the 60 gig in i sold everything else (inc. my old drive) as i didnt need that stuff and i actually made money from it. so people if you live in the uk and want a 60gb one, go to gamestation, get one for £40 then sell all your stuff. you should make around £30 and have a new hdd.

I bought this from Amazon for £50 a couple of months ago. It doesn't come with a transfer cable but if you give microsoft a ring they will send you one for free.

After swapping all my data I then sold my 20gb for £36 on ebay, The cable for £20 and the headset and 3 months live for £8.50 each. With postage and ebay fees taken off I maybe made about a tenner off it. So for me it was a very good offer.:D
