Xbox live going free?

My friend just texted me syaing an emplyee at Gamestop told him Xbox Live is going to be free starting June 1st. I did a quick google search and found nothing substantial. Is this for real?

kinda lame that to use youtube, u haev to be gold. i havent been gold since Halo Reach......just dont feel like playing COD, it seems to be the only game online these days.

And I bought a new 12-month subscription yesterday so they better not screw me up xD

Honestly, there isn't much difference playing games online between the ps3 and 360 anymore (at least for me that is). I never experience lag or any of the stuff people complain about on psn (on rare ocassions I do though) but I found lag more on xbox live in games like MW3 and Gears 3. Heck playing MW 3 on ps3 and 360 is pretty much identical the only difference being the controller. Hardly any uses mics anymore in online games on xbox live or they are in party chat so the whole no mic thing on psn isn't that big a deal anymore. I guess I am paying 60 bucks a year just to use netflix and other stuff on my xbox.......

I seem to have xbox live free.... You see a few months ago i bought that deal they had about 2 months of gold live for $
2 Dollars.... Well those 2 months are long gone and i made sure to cancel my xbox live subscription from my paypal account but i seem to still have access and play online with my friends. pretty weird.
