The xbox 360 has room for 4 controller ports, yet there are so few titles that offer 4 player local play. Most titles offer 2 player local play but even those titles are few. UT3 may lack community mods but at least it offers 2 player split screen. Rainbow six vega, Halo3, Too Human, Gears of War all have 2 player coop. The only game I can think of that has 4 player coop is Marvel Superheros Ultimate Alliance. I dont think the system link games count ( Halo 3 has 4 player coop but you need 2 consoles and 2 copies of the game relatively close to one another wtf is that!).

:(

Anyone else think there should be more 4 player titles. Co-op moreso than competitive.

Online multiplayer is becoming more and more important, and so devs are not focusing so much on local play. Halo 3 does have 4 player multiplayer, but not local co-op as you said.

I play video games mostly with friends. I hate how developers are killing split-screen.

I didn't realize how many games lacked 4 player local until I had 4 people over who wanted to play with my 360.

I think Perfect Dark Zero supported 4 player local.

I don't know... local multiplayer isn't good for me, unless it's a fighting game, or something like marvel alliance...

Split screen hurts it for me, and a screen divided in 4 different parts, is kinda sad...

but still you do have a point!

I've been playing split-screen continuously since Mario Kart 64, so it doesn't bother me.

I was interested in Far Cry 2 for its map editor, but when I found out that it doesn't have split-screen, I lost interest. What's the point of making maps if I can't play them with friends?

Four player split screen is fun, but with Xbox Live, it is often times more convenient to just play through that. Still, offering four player split screen is really nice when you have 3 other friends over and just want to play a few rounds of a game online like Halo 3.

Battlefield Bad Company doesn't even have local multiplayer period, which sucks.

Luckily GRAW 2 has lots of local multiplayer, co-op, solo, and team.

Call of Duty 4 and Halo 3 both have 4 player local MP, but it would be good to see other titles supporting them as well.

I'm pretty sure COD5 has 4 player co-op with both campaign and Nazi Zombies. Also, you can do four player local horde on GOW2, but its not the real campaign. I think it would be easy for Microsoft to easily just allow two more players to play in the campaign, because most of the time there are several members of Delta Squad present. However, it is true that we need more local multiplayer. Sure, owning someone online is fun, but owning your friend who's sitting right next to you is just that much better!

WaW has 2 player campaign but 4 player online. it all comes down to how small you want the boxes on your tv, most people dont play on 40 inch tvs so it can get pretty small.

I think its all in your choice of game and how it is geared. Marvel ultimate allicance and beat em ups usually have 4 player since all of you are on the same screen, sports too.

I assume ur talkin FPS though, the stuff gets too small to see, and it probably takes alot of strain to run 4 perspectives of the samecampaign on the same machine. Even some 2 player campaign games have 4 player multiplayer since there is no scripted events or extras, id rather have some awesome online or 2 player splitscreen, then someone scaleingdown to get 4tiny screens atonce.

If you can afford an Xbox 360, and $60 video games, then Im sure you have enough money for an internet connection.

I'm not a big fan of how muliplayer is done on the 360, multiplayer is a business for them. Its built around online play instead of local play that can be played online. Take how games like Gears of War and Resident Evil you have to use different profiles to play with two players instead of just one profile and two players. Its made like that to promote playing seperately, so that MS can sell Xbox Live, I don't like that.

Online play it's pretty cool, but I do think that local multiplayer shouldn't be dismissed. It's important also, especially when you have people with you.
