Hi. I've had my 360 for 13 months now, and have not had any problems so far.

But now, whenever I put a game in, it says open tray, like I didn't put a disc in the tray when I shut it. I even bought CoD: WaW and tried it, but the disc still wasn't read.

If anyone knows what I need to do, please tell me. Thanks. I'd really would like to not have to send my Xbox in, because my warranty is up.

it seems like your disc drive might be shot...i had a similar situation earlier in the year with my launch 360. i would get a white screen indicating i didnt put a 360 game in the drive. in any case i would suggest getting a lens or disk drive cleaner...if that doesn't work, you're out of warrenty and MS will charge you $100 for replacement.

Yeah your disc drive is most likely dead. Since you've only had it for 13 months you can get it replaced for free. (Doesn't all 360's have a 3-year warranty now?) Just go on xbox.com and I think its under support. You have to fill out a little bit of info and they will send you a box to ship your 360 off in.

unfortunately RRoD is only covered under 3 year warrenty....everything else is 1 year. Ya, it sucks...i know.

exactly same thing here, mine is a 06/19 2008 Falcon 360 and yes, still problems (I thought this new Falcon will last until nex Xbox ... but meh ..)

anyway, I start to encounter the same thing about a week ago when I trying to play some Gears2, and then I boot up my 360, it says open tray,

I thought my brother take out the game after he done playing or something, but no .... the game disc is there !! I was like WTF ?? then I close the tray, it

loads .. and ever since that incident, my 360 will do this to me randomly. sigh it's not like it won't load discs ... it just won't recognize disc sometimes (included

some DVD movies) once it recognized, and starts to load, everything is fine, I can play as long as I like for none problem occur

well, I'm still gonna call MS and

get a repair though (I'm within warranty anyway), can't let this kill my mood every time I boot up my 360

I think microsoft set us up. they put out faulty products that have a limited warranty. once that's up we're screwed and have to pay $50 - $100 bucks for services. That's an easy way to make extra money.

Find the exact same model 360 drive as yours on ebay and change the new one's logic board with yours. I had to do this for mines. Quick and somewhat cheap fix. Cheaper than what MS would charge at least.
