Oblivion- Gears of War would only win in an online category because Oblivion has no multiplayer support. Single player it is a no contest.

Depends on what genre you like better. Just on a time-played basis, Oblivion will last you much, much longer and therefore be more worth your money.

Please just use the search feature. I'm sure this is like the 10th thread, at least, about this exact thing. I'm not trying to sound rude.

Oblivion- The best game I have ever played. Has such a deep storyline and creates amazing goals to keep you interested. I loved being able to create my character to my specifications. And really gives you a sense of accomplishment when you beat it.

Gears of War- Right away when I got this game I could tell that it was something special. On-line play is where this beats Oblivion. Way better if you play this game co-op with a friend. The ending was abrupt and not very satisfying, and had "SEQUEL" written all over it.

Overall both games are worth the money. Both games graphically are amazing. But everyone has to face it that Oblivion takes this competition hands down. Hopefully the Oblivion sequel will have on-line play, it would then be one of the best games ever.

They are both excellent games. The both pwn in their own respects... I have Oblivion, so I'm partially biased but Oblivion is one of the best games I've ever played. Gears of War is a great multiplayer game, and it takes a few hours to beat...

Stop with the whole, "Can you really compare them? They are two different games.". Of coarse you can compare them, can you compare XP with the Mac OS?

Yes you can, but how can this be, they are two different OS.

Oblivion hands down.  But on their own they are both worth the $60 they cost, (if not worth more!).

Gears of War was pretty good, I own it, I like it, but it is not a really spectacular game, and it didn't live up to the hype IMHO. Like I said, it's a good game, though. Oblivion, on the other hand, is by far one of the best games, quite possibly the best RPG, that I have ever played. DLC NOT included, I have more than 200 solid hours into it...And I still haven't covered every inch of the game world, and there are a few miscellaneous quests that I have yet to do.

Gears of War may have online...but it doesn't help it's case against Oblivion, seeing as how it blows. Oblivion is the better game.

Depends on opinion. If you want a Third-person-shooter, GoW is for you. If you want whatever Oblivion's category goes into, pick that.

This is a very tough choice.

Oblivion has a lot of pros and a few cons, Gears of war has a ton of pros, and just as many cons to match, or at least a glitch.

Oblivion is possibly my favorite 360 game, with Gears of War coming in second.  (Even though I gave Gears a 10 and Oblivion a 9.6, I have higher standards for RPG's than I do for shooters).
