What Should be My First 360 Games?

I'm soon to purchase a 360, i've been gaming pretty steady on the Wii and N64, but I'm getting close to finishing Skyward Sword and Banjo Tooie, and then I think I'm finally going to buy a core console. Definately going with 360. What would you all recommend to be the first games i get? I'm not looking into spending hundreds of dollars on games here. I guess I'd prefer to go cheap and used, except for maybe the newest Halo game.

Not even counting awesome Arcade titles like Bastion, Trials, Braid etc.

I'd be doing you a diservice if i didnt throw in Rayman Origins (19.99 most places) and Dead Space (less than 10$ used)

Hmmmm, let's see Alan Wake and the Left 4 Dead Games are pretty good. If you can afford a more recent game, I reccommend The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings. It's that rare game that I have to force myself to put down the controller to do anything else.

Go with the Gears of War trilogy. After that Saints Row 2 and 3.

Halo, fable, gears of war, and assassins creed are some of my favorite series, and the earlier games of these should be pretty cheap.

Kameo is also a great platformer, and one of the first 360 games. I bought it really cheap, made by rare as well.

Halo Wars Mass Effect Saints Row GTA Left 4 Dead Fable 2 Halo 3 Forza 2 or 3 Gears of War Battlefield Bad Company 2 (or get BF3 if you can find it cheap) You want to start off with some older cheap games. That way when you get around to playing the sequels, those will be even cheaper too.

Skyrim, and a good online game for starters (wether it be call of duty or battlefield, etc.) It's always really good to have a competitive online game to switch over to when you're sick of playing campaigns, I learned that real quick.

I'm sorry, but Skyrim is simply amazing and a terrific value. I'm in love with it at the moment.

Aaand also... Max Payne 3 has come out and I am totally into it so far. Looks to be one of my favorite 360 games this year.

That's my two cents!

Older games first

GTA IV

Fallout 3

L4D2 (for co-op, take a break from campaigns)

Toy Soldiers : Cold War

Blur (Mario Kart on steroids)

Get Halo 3, Bioshock, Crackdown, Fable II and Gears of War. You can find them for around ten bucks each and they're all classics. Great games.

Halo Reach would be a good choice for a first game. Modern_Fit
Yes I agree with you. The great HALO series can become the part of your first 360 games. As I have enjoyed much with the HALO series you can also start you gaming with HALO on 360. That's great one for you.

Whats funny about your sig is that most PS exclusives are shooters lol Gears of War . You can get their double pack for 30 $ which is 1 and 2 with DLC for 2. And then you can play 3 for the online but I think 2 still has people Assasins Creed Franchise. First game gets tedious towards the end but 2 is just fantastic as well as Brotherhood. Revelations isn't a bad entry either Batman Arkham Asylum and Arkham City Mass Effect Franchise, the first one gets boring but 2 and 3 were awesome Red Dead Redemption Battlefield 3 for the hardcore shooter or COD if you want a simpler game(no disrespect here) Mortal Kombat if you like fighting games Dark Siders The Witcher 2 So many to be honest

Just bought my Xbox 360 last week and got it today as for games I picked these ones for my first games

  • Zoids Assault
  • Perfect Dark Zero
  • Kameo Elements of Power
  • Halo 3

Unfornetly I got unlucky and Halo 3 gets a Unrecognized Disc error so not sure if I should count that one I sort of got it work a bit though, and Kameo hasn't come in the mail yet so I'm waiting on that one. guess I would probably recommend Halo 3, Gears of War and probably Kameo Elements of Power if you can find the game

Definately the Gears of War series! also: the early Call of Duty games will be really cheap, they're also, in my opinion, the best ones. Call of Duty 2, 3 and 4. Or just for now, spend time with 2 and 3. You will spend enough time on those awesome games as it is! they're better than CoD4 (in my opinion) too! GTA IV and Episodes from Liberty City (Episodes should be cheap now if you get the disc version. I reccommend the disc version any day anyway for anything. It has both TBOGT and TLAD on it). Red Dead Redemption AND Undead Nightmare (both sold seperately. Again, I recommend the disc version of Undead Nightmare, personally). Although, I'm not sure how cheap the original RDR is, but UN is cheap now. But if you can't get the original RDR cheap (you should be able to though) then get this series later, because you should play that one first, as UN is kind of an expansion and it might ruin the original a bit. Assassin's Creed I and II - they will be cheap now. Although I have yet to still play Revelations, II is my favourite of the series. Batman: Arkham Asylum should be cheap as well. Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Brothers In Arms: Hell's Highway - Just to throw in one of those underrated games in there ;) Rainbow Six Vegas 1 and 2 - If you would prefer just the one for now (although both should be VERY cheap), go for Vegas 1. I prefer the maps and I also prefer the campaign of it. While not spoke of much these days, this was one of the biggest games a few years ago. This was the CoD of the Xbox 360 before it got REALLY popular. It's also really addicting, you will be sat there playing Terrorist Hunt for weeks, and you will keep coming back to them as well! Resident Evil 5 (if you can, get a BRAND NEW and sealed copy of the Gold Edition, although maybe it wouldn't really matter. As long as you get the DLC). I would also recommend Operation Raccoon City because I feel that it is a VERY underrated game, but it is still full price so I won't recommend that to you yet.

Gears of War 1, 2, and 3. Best series on the 360 in my opinion. I also recommend Shadows of The Damned, it's a Suda 51 game, and Akira Yamaoka of Silent Hill is in charge of the soundtrack. The game is like an improved Resident Evil 4 with a lot of humour, and a very likeable protagonist. Also, get the Mass Effect franchise, if you are an RPG man. If you are more into FPS then get Battlefield or CoD: Modern Warfare. Check them out, and choose which you would rather like. Battlefield has better graphics, and gameplay, but I found Modern Warfare more fun to play.
