Sony and Samsung are easily the better two brands in that catagory, and especially if you want to game with it. Sharp is decent but most people will notice more artifacting with them, I know people talk up thier cheapo Olevia's and Westys, but the only conclusion I can come to is that those people are less sensative to picture quality, because they don't hold up, I don't care what thier numbers are either. Olevias especially usually have excessive backlight bleed around atleast a corner or two, Westinghouse are as bad or worse, and both have other issues from time to time. The best bet is to go and look at some yourself, and try and make your own choice based on your eyes.

Samsung has done me right. Sony's good, but overpriced.

Here is a good site containing reviews on HDTVs. It's c-net, Gamespot's parent company! W00t!

ive got a 37" sharp, and i totally recommend sharp(.....little expensive tho). Also, another lesser known brand that i was amazed with was Westinghouse, my brother has one, and it looked outstanding.

If you aren't a picture quality nerd like most people in this thread just get a cheap one, like Olevia. They turn on when you press the power button and are a LOT less expensive. It's not worth spending double (and it really can amount to double) for a more expensive brand that might have a nicer shade of blue.
