I've always wondered how old Splinter Cell's protagonist is. I just got this month's Game Informer and it has a whole section on Splinter Cell: Convictions, which is set two years after Double Agent, and Sam looks like he hasn't aged at all, save for the new hairstyle and beard.

I remember reading on the official Splinter Cell Chaos Theory website a long time ago and it said Sam was in his early 60's. Weird.

In double agent, he was about 45ish. So in this one i'd expect him to be about 47 or 49. This next one looks crap though.

He does a lot of finger pushups and uses a veggie/fruit juicer to keep in shape.

Hey, a bit off-topic, but is Splinter Cell worth picking up? I think it looks cool, but I DLed the demo and didn't know what to do! I couldn't figure out (a) what all my buttons really did and (b) how I was supposed to complete whatever objective they gave.

You mean Double Agent? I loved the game myself, so from personal experience I'd suggest you get it.

I thought he was around the fifty mark - and in pretty good condition, all things considered!  You'd think getting shot at would cause a few wrinkles, but apparently not!  Perhaps adrenaline is good for anti-ageing.

Question is - how old is Lara Croft now?

When I got Conviction, I got the Collector's Edition... so it comes with a book on it called "Fifth Freedom" and it says that Sam was born January 12, 1955, and if the game take place past 2010, which I think it does... then Sam is at least 55 years old.

Yea it's somewhat of a joke that Sam gets more agile, strong, and potent as he grows older. But you can't think about too hard, just know that he's about 50 (and in obviously amazing shape)

Splinter Cell: Conviction is awesome. Also, if you haven't played any of the other games in the series, you might want to check them out. They are (in order):

Splinter Cell

Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow

Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory

Splinter Cell: Double Agent

The first three can be found on Gamecube, PS2, and the original XBox. The fourth game can be found on PS2 and Xbox 360.

Great games!
