I didn't know if I should post this in the R6V forum or the R6V2 forum...so I posted it here!

So bascially the topic kind of says it all.

I am only really after the opinion of the true fans of the original - the guys that play it day in day out. I want to know if the game has stayed true and plays the same, or if it has gone a bit cod 4 with the sprinting?

O wasn't going to bother with R6V2 until I noticed that the original has taken a massive hit in its user base.

i like the new things they did like running and new controls for your teammates but ithink the story was a little dull the bring no suprises with that and it was shorter than the first, also the gameplay itself was i got to say dull like they barly spiced it up with anything and its multiplayer isn't doing to good with COD4's new maps coming out

Eh.... that's a toughie. The game mechanics have remained unchanged. The game works the same. Sprint is definitely a good thing here. I think it's largely the same game. The problem is that it is the same game. The textures look a little dated, the AI can be a little dumb, which is surprising considering the franchise. The game is an absolute blast though. I love it, the game is a little faster, a little looser, for better or worse, but I think it is still great.

I might hold off for a bit. Is there like a ton of people playing this? It might have been just an off night, but there was quite a limited number of roooms on the old vegas last night - I assume that all the elite/old players have now moved onto the new vegas

there are some things that make it feel like COD4 (ie, sprinting, progress bar on bottom of screen for ranks, and the Aces system feels like the challenges from COD4.) but Ubisoft, made it work very well for themselves by linking it all into the Single Player campaign as well as the mulitplayer games. The Story links to the original, but as a person before had said, it is a little dull, but good none the less. that is my take on the subject

Excellent game. Story is a bit shortchanged, ending was disappointing. Gameplay mechanics remain the same except that they added the sprint function. Ranking system is better. Tons of awesome customizations and unlockables. Graphics look the same but the tone may be different. In part one, the colors were darker, better textures. R6V2 looks a lot more colorful, but dull, lacks textures, it looks rushed, but it's decent. To me, R6V original looks better in terms of graphics.

The SP was fantastic, but the MP feels very sloppy. The lack of a map actually hurts the game, where I thought it was going to help. Some match types are rediculously short, others feel like they were tacked on. The game also suffers from the jack asses playin it. I don't want to listen to a bunch of fools for 10 minutes between matches that will launch when they feel good and ready, the game should take care of matchmaking itself like CoD4 and H3.

If a patch comes around that tightens up the performance issues, at least to the level of the first I think it has the potential to be better then CoD4, as for now I am kind of regretting trading it in.

It's an amazing RB6. It has that same feeling RB6:3 had. Which for me vegas 1 did not have.

a bit too true even some of the maps (killhouse) are exactly the same. they havent even fixed the spawn camping problem that was so prevalent on the first one

Sorry, I should have said that my questions were mainly geared towards the online/multiplayer rather than the single player game.

Do they still have the attack and defend game modes? Attack and defend on calypso casino was where it was at for me in the first rainbow six. Everyone played it and everyone knew the "nick names" for the areas of the maps, so you could have some great tactical team based gameplay with a bunch of total strangers.

completely agree...i played the original A LOT, almost daily....i got R6V2 last night and i love it, but i've only tried the single player so far, which is much better than part 1. im loving this game, more than the original....the minor changes have added a lot of depth.
