I have a 42 inch Hi Def TV that is 1080P and I have a HMDI cable plugged in the back of it... my question is, what settings should I put my 360 to?

On the back of the boxes, it says it's 1080P and I've heard people say that all the games are actually 720, just upscaled... so I really don't know what to do, would it look better if I was to put the imput as 720, or keep it as 1080?

Why don't you try each setting and see what one you like best.

Use the native resolution of your TV, in this case 1080p.

I just like some facts regarding whether or not the 360 displays games at 1080 or if it's upscaled.

if your tv is 1080 that set it to 1080. That's all you got to do

1080p upscaled is still better than 720p native, trust me.  Go for the 1080p.  Anyway, with a TV thats 42", it won't make a super difference anyway.

I believe it's upscaled, but it doesn't matter either way. On a 42" screen, I guarantee you cannot tell the difference between 720p and 1080p. The human eye can't really pick up the extra detail 1080p puts out until you start talking 55 inches and up.

I'll leave it as it is then, The graphics are amazing anyway and 42 inches is more then big enough. The intelligent eye on LG TV's is a great feature

I'm trying to get a 42" vizio during the holidays, prices are going to drop like crazy. I think 42" is as big as you need unless you have a truly enormous living room or something.. I know people with 60 inch screens and it's just unnecessary.

The 42 inch size is ideal for the size of the room, the detail is incredible and I don't think I could have chosen a better TV either

I agree with those above that you should go with the native setting for the TV.  I doubt you'll see any difference in the picture quality, but it may process the signal slightly smoother.

As for those talking about having "too big" of a television, well it really does depend on your setup.  I'm one of those people with a huge living room and I have a 50" Samsung (PN50A550).  It's actually a little undersized for the room it's in, but my 360 looks stunning on it.  I would highly reccommend it to anyone looking for a new HDTV.

If you have a 1080p hdtv and hdmi cables for your xbox, you should set the resolution to 1080p.
