My controller keeps shutting off randomly since I installed the play n charge kit. I'm sure the battery is fully charged because I left in plugged in over night, Also the yellow light turned white. As far as I can tell there is no way to check the battery level like on the 360.

Any ideas to what's going on? Does anyone else have the same problem with their play and charge kit. It seems the battery is good for 2 hours worth of game play then it just keeps disconnecting. I never had annoying issues using regular batteries, in fact the batteries that came with the xbox are still good. I may have to go back to my trusted Duracells as they work without question.

I agree, it does seem to shut off randomly and then work fine for several more hours. Sometimes it even seems it shuts off for such a brief period of time that you lose control for the merest fraction of a second without the controller fully powering down. But if you online playing Ghosts, that's still an eternity.

@jekyll: I've been playing forza and AC, I've have ghost just haven't played it yet. That would be highly irritating to ramdomly disconnect on ghost. I think I will call MS and switch to regular batteries for now. I wish there was a way to check the battery level so I would know if it had a full charge.

This happens to me often as well.

It's not shutting off randomly, it powers down when idle.

I think there's supposedly some feature where Kinect can see it idle, then shuts it down, so it can shut down if you have it laying on a flat surface, even before the usual time allotted before being considered idle.

@dbtbandit67: for me it turns off mid gameplay. There is no reason for it cut off while I'm still pressing buttons.

I just keep mine plugged in as I'm close enough to the console. Back to the old school wired days it seems.

The regular batteries are better than the charge and play. After testing both normal batteries last way longer. as charge and play is 1200mah and duracell and energizer are 2000/2400 respectively which means twice as long and twice as cheaper. Go buy rechargeable duracell/energizer/whatever is your favorite company and play.
