Old Play and charge kits work with new controllers?

This might seem like a bit of a stupid question but I just thought I would check before I make a costly mistake. I am going go buy a new controller for my Elite 360 which I have had since 2007 and I have a play and charge kit for it. I would just like to check if new controllers (designed for the Slim) will work with old play and charge kits, or are the connections different?

As long as the connection port is the same (and I'm certain it is), it will work.
