I read that they "might" start working on the console hardware in 2012 and the next xbox would be released in 2015. Who really knows?
Is the current 360 technology old? I don't think so, as games that i've bought in the past year have come with "installable updates required" to play them.
So, in a sense, i feel that this current console is still advancing in "little leaps" without having to revamp or reinvent itself totally.
The existing technology is great, but sadly, only a few brilliant sparks know how to utilise it fully.
I think the fate of Microsoft's new console is directly related to the success of Kinect.
The more popular / successful Kinect is, the longer MS will wait until releasing a new console.
After all, Microsoft has barely any first-party studios... as long as they continue to sell hardware they're going to milk the 360 as much as they possibly can.
The only reason Nintendo's releasing Cafe in 2012 is because Wii sales are dropping...fast.
I think when the price goes down for the current console just a few months after that say about 6-9 months the newerconsole for ehte xboxwill be released. This is what happened with ps2 and 6 months down the line I see a ps3 :P
No way for 2012. Just wouldn't make sense with the recent launch of Kinect. I'd say holiday 2013. I want to say even 2014, but I don't know if Microsoft (or Sony) wants to give Nintendo a two year head start.
I think 2015 would be way to late. If the wii 2 is more powerful than 360 i think microsoft will need to release sooner so nintendo can't take too much market share, depending on what happens microsoft will probably release in 2014 at the latest, i think they might decide to launch it in late 2013.I read that they "might" start working on the console hardware in 2012 and the next xbox would be released in 2015. I'm oblivious to the Kinect vs Wii battle. buti there's still life left for the 360!I read that they "might" start working on the console hardware in 2012 and the next xbox would be released in 2015. We might hear one around 2013 maybe or sometime in 2014.http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/116/1167019p1.html
It seems that IGN thinks there may be truth to the rumors about the new Xbox. This article is pretty much speculation, but it does make a point.
I think we will see the new console before 2014.

I seriously doubt that they will even talk about it at E3 2011. No chance.
