Definately new batteries. How in the hell did you get them to last for a long time or did you just get your xbox? BTW it has nothing to do with a game.

this happened to me.

the battery pack may be loose

next time you turn it on hold the battery pack in place

if it stays on just tape it shut

I really doubt you have a broken controller but you never now. Myne is purely custom with knife marks on it where I get bored and where I had to make the holes bigger so I could take apart my contoller because the head was too big to go in. I have also probably dropped myne a hundred times and I am missing tiny chunks of plastic all over the thing.

If u read the Manuel guide on for the Xbox then it said not to use any other batteries. If that's not the idea then u need to get Ur controller repaired or get a new one. And if those two ideas don't work then Ur xbox is busted

Mine does the same, but only if the battery pack gets hit, it might be a fault with the Pack and controller connecting, but im not sure.

Are they wireless? Try to re-synce them. Otherwise, Ive got no clue. That happens to me when my battaruies are dying but you said you just changed them.

I have this problem too, my controller disconnects when the battery life gets to 3, are they saying I need to take out 10 hour used batteries each day?

I am still using the controller i got with my conole two years ago, its in perfect condition although disconnects every now and again. Easy way to solve it is get an official ms play and charge kit. got mine for £10 and no problems since...
