I had friends over this weekend and we were talking about how awesome it would be to just spend a weekend drinking beer and playing the games on Arcade. Castelvania: SOTN is an oldschool classic plus lots of original content looks good too. Problem is nobody wants to spend 800MS points to download them so you end up not paying anything anyways.

I would gladly pay a monthly fee of $10-$15 to get unlimited access to all arcade titles. It would be so much better to play whatever we wanted whenever we wanted for a monthly fee than to have to decide what to purchase with MS points.

The problem with that is we already pay $50 a year and then we pay about the same price for dlc and Arcade games as ps3 users. They should make a seperate yearly plan where you pay $70 a year and get arcade games for free and dlc at a reasonable discount.

That's a good idea, too. I NEVER download anything from Arcade because I don't want to waste money on something I might get tired of real quick. A fee for everything would be more worth it and probably for everyone else too. Who wants to download something for 800 points, get bored after an hour then regret it?

The problem is that they would need a system that tracks which games and for how long these games are played inorder to spread the profit over the different developers. I don't know if such a system is possible and how much it would take from the server but even if it works then developers still have to agree. On top of that 10 -15 dollars is cheap to play every game unlimited so I doubt it would work unless it has a much higher price which will turn away most gamers. The current system probably works bes for the current pricing of arcade games (which I think it far too high).

Doesn't ps3 users have to pay more for dlc and Arcade games. If they dont, I wonder why sony doesnt charge more.

Well microsoft are a bunch of greedy basterds

it is a good idea but it would make it hard to even out pay for the ppl who make the arcade games. for instence some arcade games are really bad and some are really good, the bad game shouldnt get the same amount of money as the good one, but how would they determine it if everyone paid a monthy fee to play them all.

What about the developers? Who would get the biggest share out of the $20 per gold member increase? I think this is a horrible idea.. Maybe they can let you rent it or something but not apart of any increase in XBL cost just a simple rent or buy option on games..

why not make it where you can rent a xbl arcade game for 3 days for 4-5 dollars ? A lot of the games have no replay value...so why spend 800 points on something that you might not play again

microsoft seems to set the prices on DLC. the developer for Braid for instance wanted to release exra content for free but MS said nope. my question is do the developers get lump sum money up front or just a percentage off the sales?

It wouldn't be hard for them to tell who's playing what and for how long. They can already tell what and how long we're playing regular games. There is NOTHING worse than wasting 800MS points on something you regret buying. It makes people not even want to purchase games from Arcade.
