from what date on does Microsoft consider the failure rate to be 4-5%? because it seems to me that people who got there xbox for xmas or around that time are still having problems. You would think that after a whole year to perfect the system there would be no more problems. I love my 360 which turns 1month today but i reallly hope its problems have been fixed couse i live in argentina, so if it breakes theres no sending it to microsoft.:? Theres at least two threads a day about someones 360 dying, i guess you could say a few are PS fanboy but theres no way they all are, besides you dont see these kinds of topics in any other forums or at least not in the quantities as the xbox 360 forum.

I honestly doubt that even 50% of the broken 360 threads are true.

Ya. All these people go around "it's user error, sony fanboys make the topics bla bla bla". Then their system breaks and they shut up. The 360 has a lot of problems, idk why, it just does. Still worth buying.

I've had mine for a year and two monthes. I still do doubt the ones that have gone through four consoles in six monthes or less though.

My 360 will be a year old in less than a half a month.  And while it's froze on every single one of the 80+ games I've played at one time or another, it hasn't died.   Yet.  My fingers are permanently crossed, though, because two friends have been through three consoles apiece.  (the first two for each of these guys were from launch though)

^again, 4th console here. Well ventilated, off the carpet, never moved, etc. 2 had disk drive problems, 1 had red lights...it shouldn't be this sensitive in the first place. Don't be so naive.

If you have to send something back more than twice then you move on to another product. Its just common sense.

common sense? Is that some unwritten rule? As soon as you've sent it in for the second time I, what, buy a PS3? There isn't an xbox replacement product line. MSFT has a monopoly on Xbox 360's.

Well you can move onto something else or keep sending back and forth faulty units. What other option is there but to consider another platform be it PS3, Wii or PC.

I'm sorry, have I missed something? Did I ever say that I was looking for an alternative? I like my Xbox, enough to continually send it back to MSFT, if need be.
