It's not fixed. Elementary things like basic directional lighting in Halo 3 are entirely absent. This looks like the engine for Battlefield 1943.
To be honest, you shouldnt bother to play/buy it.

He should wait until it's fixed completely and then get it, maybe that happens during the summer maybe it's next spring.
The idea that he should go without just to prove a nonexistent point is completely useless.

I find it to work great for me. No problems here. But to be honest I would much rather just get BF Hardline.

Still some problems with it but I have been able to get into matches with relative ease, just slow to find players since no one plays it anymore
