ohh no, don't start with this fake fact crap.

it does not matter which way you have your 360. it works fine both ways.

I leave mine vertical. I have found that it is cooler when standing on end.

Mine froze up 4 times over 2 months when it was vertical. I hasn't froze yet in the 3 months it's been horizontal. Also, games like GRAW and Oblivion seem to have less disk activity when it's streaming stuff in since I put it horizontal.

mine's sideways so all the cooling  holes are clear, and it fits on my desk easy...I'd rather avoid the trouble of putting a disk in the tray when it's vertical, sometimes my disk would fall out when I opened it.

If you put it standing up and then it falls from whatever height, you are screwed. The fan will pop right out and break. So ly it down sideways. :)

People assuming that it will overheat if it's horizontal is dumb. They wouldn't make the product if it had a serious flaw like that and if they did there would be some serious amount of recalls and people sending it in, not everyone has it vertical. I 've had my 360 10 months already horizontal the whole time and have not had one problem with it so these assumptions of "vertical is better" doesn't make sense. It works no matter what direction it's in.

If it will be free-standing, horizontal. But if you have a place for it, like I used to tuck mine between my entertainment system cabinet and my sub, and don't think it will fall over then either. Keep in mind that if a disc is spinning and the console even wobbles, its scratches all over.

i had mines vertical for a while. i got a new entertainment center so i decided to put my 360 horizontal. my games started to freeze and it would get incredibly hot. i switched back to vertical and now i have no problems.

Honestly I used to think it didnt matter. So I had it vertical cause it looked cooler. Then the disc tray stopped opening on the first try and the Disc drive made very disturbing noises. Since putting it horizontal I havnt encountered either of these problems(knock on wood) So know I truly belive its better to have it horizontal.

I used to keep mine horizontal until one day my disc inside got so hot I was freaking out. I then tried it vertical and I noticed a slight difference enough change in heat anyways to give me piece of mind. Everyone needs to know that there is some serious hardware in this thing it does get hot, open up your PC at any given time playing a game, I know mine gets pretty hot anyways.

OH YEAH, DO NOT!, I REPEAT DO NOT BUY AN INTERCOOLER!, unless your an idiot of course.

I stand mine Vertical but that is because of the lack of space I have around my TV.  I have always had mine Vertical and never once have I had a problem except it froze a few times playing Oblivion.

My first Xbox 360 was horizontal = 3 red lights

My second  xbox 360 was vertical = 3 red lights

My third xbox 360 was horizontal = 3 red lights

 Now does it matter?

Same here. The Vertical killed my Ghost Recon. If you buy a 360 from a credible place, they'll tell you the same. Horizontal is the way to go.

WTF is "Tim and Eric Awsome Show"? anyways thats what will happen if you have your 360 upside down. But then the Pickle Empire starts a war with McDonalds because MD's kidnapps citizens and chops them up into pickles on burgers. Oranges implode faces in summer time.

I kept mine horizontal because a friend kept it vertical and he got the 3 redlights.  I put it vertical for about 2 weeks to make room for my new ps3.  Got the 3 redlights 2 weeks later.  Does it make a difference I dunno.  But if what people say about the cheap solder MS uses keeping it vertical may actually make it easier to crack the solder because of gravity?  I dunno just a guess.

I have had mine standing 'straight up' for over a year now and (touch wood) its never given me any problems so I am not going to risk anything by suddenly deciding to lay it on its side.

It also doesnt get as dusty standing on its end.
