I own both games and enjoyed them both alot. With that being said, i think the fantastic story and voice acting for the characters in Mass Effect was a bit better. In my opinion Mass Effect is a little better, but both are worth having :D
Is mass effect as good As Oblivion........no no it's not. After hearing nothing but positive reviews for mass effect I picked it up.....and wow I wish I hadn't. One word.....BORING. The game crawls along painfully slow (at least for me ) Mass effect was just all around not good imo. I know everyone loves mass effect for its story etc etc but who the hell cares about the story if thats all the game is. If i wanted a story i'd read a book or watch a movie, I want fun and mass effect just doesn't comparte to oblivion. IMO of course;)
Oblivion lasts much longer and i found overall to be more enjoyable. The combat in Mass Effect often got slightly frustrating and does not seem very fluid or realistic such as the guys always just running up on you. Mass Effect is great but dosen't equal or exceed Oblivion. Also loads/elevator times get slightly out of hand.
to me u can't compare em...i mean they work on different levels really..i like mass effect...but i thought it was to short...oblivion lasted alot longer heck i'm still not finished wit it...but i'd say rent it if ne thing n see cause i don't think its better..but it definitly isn't worse
I personally perfer Mass Effect over Oblivion, even though Oblivion has more content. Mass Effect has the best story I ever heard in a video game, dramatic music and dialoge, and decent gameplay.
Nowhere near the amount of greatness Oblivion has to offer but yeah, Mass Effect is the 2nd best RPG I've ever played(which is obviously next to Oblivion IMO) so you should definetly buy it.
dont compare it to another game beacuse its going to ruin the expirience. just buy it and enjoy the 20-40 hour expirience of one of the greatest games out there
overall, Mass Effect is better but i wouldnt say by a whole lot. The story is better, the combat is more fun, but not as good when it comes to exploration, freedom and content
Defo worth picking up. I loved it. Got Oblivion as well, but haven't gotten in to that nearly half as much as Mass Effect. I think that Oblivion is potentially a better game - much bigger universe and more variety (possibly...) but ME just sucked me in!

Because it is an RPG not GoW. It is supposed to have a lot of story and background with some action, which imo the action was good, but not necessarily supposed to be a FPS/TPS focused game. RPG's aren't everyones taste but I really enjoyed the characters and story.
Hell no. Oblivion is so much deeper of a game. You can easily play it for 200 hours and still have too much stuff left you could do. Mass Effect is awesome, but Oblivion is just so huge and deep of an experience.
OBLIVION IS WAY BETTER, and i think MORROWIND III GOTY is better than oblivion so no way in OBLIVION;) is ME better than any of those two! its still a good game tho ;)

The mythos that go along with the places and people in ME are just far more interesting than the backstory to The Elder Scrolls. Maybe this just goes to show that I like Sci-fi a little more than traditional fantasy. The characters also feel alot more real.

i agree with just about every thing you said, and i too am a SCI-FI fan but ME fell a little short of what i was expecting from it. i also disagree with the statement about lore between both games about 60, 40 "ES favored".
theres so much more to do and achieve in oblivion, for me its the better game and certainly the better rpg.

Agreed, Mass Effect is a great game, but in terms of RPG's, Oblivion out classes it by far in my opinion. Mass Effect felt more like an action game, and it ended up being far shorter than I hoped it would be. But, I still loved every minute of it.
That would be a mistake dude. I just finished Mass Effect, and it is possibly the most fun I've ever had with a video game. And I found the combat to be strangely GoW-esque, but you can play it however you want. I found myself shooting out of cover more often than not. Seriously dude, it's worth every penny, even if it isn't that long.

It would seem like I would enjoy ME even if its not like an Oblivion type of RPG. From what people have written maybe the comparison is a bad one, in peoples opinion there both great but not alike. I'm goin game shoppin this weekend, Mass Effect is on my list. Would I need a strategy guide for the game or not necessary?
