Is it a surge protector or a power strip? I had mine plugged into a surge protector for a year and then I got three red lights. I called support and the first thing they told me to do was plug it straight into the wall. It's worked perfectly ever since. If it's just a plain poer strip then you can use it.

Yes, I had to call xbox live support because my xbox would work also they had me plug it into a wall and it worked fined and they advised me not to plug it into a power strip because it robs the xbox of power not alllowing it to run correctly so I wouldn't if I was you.

Mine's on a strip with my TV and hi-fi. It's a launch model and I've had no problems.

I've had mine plugged into a surge protector ever since I got it; the worst I've had is a shutdown b/c of overheating.

I don't know why it would matter and frankly I don't have the required wall outlets to sustain my 360, Wii, PS3, TV, Cable Box and the like. So if Microsoft's solution is to dedicate a socket to avoid malfunction then I guess I will inevitably have a broken 360.

Funny how I am the only person I know that has a working launch 360 and my other friends have broken ones, and I know some of them had them plugged into walls. If the console is destined to break then it is destined to break.

A console that had a high number of breaking isnt a good console imo.

but the games for it keeps it going.

I'm sorry to inform you that you have been lied to. Power strips transfer the exact same power as an outlet. And that's obvious, electricity isn't going anywhere but through wires. If you somehow get less power from a power strip then it's because it's a protected one.

Power doesn't just fly out of the power strip. It doesn't work like that.

No. It is not bad in any way shape or form. Surge protectors are a must for high-end electronics as far as I'm concerned. Just don't cheap out on them.

i dont see why a surge protecter would mess it up maybe a cheap one wont supply enough energy just make sure to get a high quality surge protecter heck i use mine on one no probs
